Shot blasting machine, using a shot blasting device thrown by high-speed projectiles to clean up or strengthen the casting surface of the casting equipment. Shot blasting function simultaneously to the casting sand, remove the core and clean. Some areas are also known as sand blasting machine.

1. Surface cleanup

Shot blasting equipment is first used in casting cast steel, cast iron castings of the surface of the sand and oxidation of the removal of skin.

Almost all steel castings, gray casting, malleable steel, nodular iron and so on must be shot blasting. This is not only to clear the casting surface oxidation and sticky sand, but also the casting quality inspection before the indispensable preparatory process, such as large gas turbine shell in the nondestructive testing must be carried out strictly blasting blast cleaning, to ensure the reliability of the flaw detection results. In the general casting production, throwing shot blasting is the indispensable technological means to discover the surface defects of castings such as subcutaneous gas holes, slag holes, and sticky sand, cold insulation and peeling. Non-ferrous metal castings, such as aluminum alloy, copper alloy surface cleaning, in addition to the removal of oxidation, and found the surface defects of castings, the more main purpose is to throw shot blasting to clear the burr of casting and obtain decorative meaning of the surface quality, to obtain a comprehensive effect. In metallurgical and steel production, throwing shot or pickling is a process method for eliminating phosphorus peel by mechanical or chemical combined to ensure high productivity in the production of steel. The production of steel sheets, stainless steel sheets and other alloy steels and belts must be annealed after the cold-rolling process, and then shot or pickling to ensure the surface roughness and thickness accuracy of the cold rolled steel plates.

2. Workpiece Hardening

According to the theory of modern metal strength, the main direction of increasing metal strength is to increase the dislocation density inside metal. The practice proves that shot peening is an effective technique for increasing the structure of metal dislocation. This is more important for some metals that cannot be reinforced by phase change hardening (such as martensite quenching, etc.) or for a workpiece that requires further hardening.
